PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Jay S. Sidhu, chairman of
Sovereign Bancorp, Inc., and Sherry Sidhu, his wife, will be presented with
the National Liberty Museum's Heroes of Liberty Award at the museum's 2006
Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. at the Crystal Tea
Room in Philadelphia. Albert R. Boscov, chairman emeritus, Boscov's
Department Stores, Inc., will present the Sidhus with their award. Boscov
is a longtime friend of the Sidhus.
Also being honored with the Heroes of Liberty Award are Drs. Josephine
and John M. Templeton, Jr. of Bryn Mawr, Pa.
The Heroes of Liberty Award is presented annually to local individuals
who are living examples of the high ideals and principles to which the
National Liberty Museum is dedicated.
The National Liberty Museum works to defuse violence and bigotry by
celebrating America's heritage of freedom and tolerance. Using the stories
of more than 1,000 heroes of liberty and democracy worldwide, its galleries
seek to inspire visitors on an individual level. A resource for more than
2,000 children every month, the Museum's Education Department features
interactive diversity and conflict-resolution training.
