Playboy.com Unveils List Today; Fans Invited to Vote for Their Own Favorites
Online
NEW YORK, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Playboy.com unveiled Playboy's
first-ever ranking of the top ten colleges with the best looking women. To
create the list of colleges, Playboy.com polled the ultimate experts in
beautiful coeds: The Playboy photographers and photo editors who have worked
throughout the years on the college pictorials. In addition to the list,
exclusive interviews with the judges who share their insights on everything
from what they look for in potential models to reminiscence of the very first
school Playboy visited in 1977, can be found in Playboy.com's "On Campus"
section at: ( http://www.playboy.com/on-campus/features/topten ).
The colleges, ranked in order, are:
1. University of Texas (Austin)
2. Arizona State (Tempe)
3. UCLA
4. University of Florida
5. University of Arizona
6. Florida State
7. University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa)
8. University of Colorado (Boulder)
9. East Carolina
10. University of Georgia (Athens)
Fans' top picks will appear on the site's "On Campus" section starting in
February.
Playboy.com probed the judges for some behind-the-scenes scoop on the
creation of the college girls pictorials. Included is an exclusive interview
with the "King of College Girls," David Chan -- a photographer for nearly
every conference pictorial since they began in 1977 with Girls of the Big Ten.
"At the first school we went to, Wisconsin, we got a big reaction,"
reminisced Chan. "In the early days, girls would worry about what their
mothers, fathers and boyfriends thought...Today, girls use their own minds
more than ever. If a boyfriend told a girl he didn't want her to pose for
Playboy, the girl would get a new boyfriend."
What kinds of women does Playboy look for on campuses? "We're not looking
for professional models. We're looking for girls who are bright, real and
sexy," said Jeff Cohen, Executive Editor and Publisher, Playboy's Special
Editions.
"How they project themselves in front of the camera," added Kevin Kuster,
Senior Photo Editor, Playboy magazine.
According to judge David Mecey, photographer for Playboy since 1980,
1998's Girls of the ACC search brought out the best crop of college girls
ever. "That was awesome!" he recalled. "There were so many great looking
girls that I couldn't find time to shoot them all."
These anecdotes and many others can be found in this online-only feature.
The seven judges were: David Chan, photographer; Jeff Cohen, Executive Editor
and Publisher, Playboy's Special Editions; Gary Cole, Director of Photography,
Playboy magazine and Editorial Director, Playboy.com; Kevin Kuster, Senior
Photo Editor, Playboy magazine; Jim Larson, Managing Photo Editor, Playboy
magazine; David Mecey, photographer; and, David Rams, photographer.
