Terra Industries Inc. (NYSE: TRA) announces the promotion of Joe Giesler
to Vice President, Industrial Sales and Operations. Giesler is responsible
for industrial sales, all natural gas pricing and procurement functions,
product demand/supply planning and all product storage and distribution
functions.

Giesler earned a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of
Missouri in Columbia in 1980. He spent the first 10 years of his career as a
Field Salesperson for Agrico-Freeport MacMoran and predecessor companies. In
1990, he became Manager, Western Area, for Agricultural Minerals Corporation
(AMC) in Tulsa. He retained this position through Terra's purchase of AMC in
1994. In 1995, Giesler was promoted to National Accounts Manager, and in
1996, to Regional Manager. He became Western Division Director in 1999, and
Director of Marketing in 2000. In 2001, Giesler was named Global Director,
Industrial Sales, the position he held until this promotion.
Giesler and his wife Luanne live in Jefferson, SD.
