MILPITAS, Calif., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sipex Corporation
(SIPX.PK) today announced single day record donations made to the Second
Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara County. Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa
Clara and San Mateo Counties is a private non-profit organization that
collects and distributes more than 27 million pounds of food each year to
low-income children, adults and seniors. The Food Bank currently serves an
average of 163,500 individuals each month; nearly 60% are families with
dependent children.
At Sipex 's 2005 Thanksgiving Day Lunch for its employees, Sipex
challenged its employees to use this occasion as a means of insuring that
those in need also benefited, Sipex employees provided over 270 pounds of food
items and $1375.00 in donations. Speaking to this record giving event Ralph
Schmitt offered, "I am truly impressed with the level of giving that our
employees provided to this truly worthy cause. Having had the pleasure of
working with Second Harvest over the years I find myself most proud of what
the employees of Sipex have contributed." Following the success of this event
Ralph committed to matching each future donation made to Second Harvest,
dollar for dollar, through to the end of this years drive.
