MIAMI, FL USA
Partnership Promotes Activity and Invites Kids to 'Fuel The Fire Within'

MIAMI, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Burger King Corporation today announced a
partnership with the President's Challenge, a program of the President's
Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, to bring the Presidential Active
Lifestyle and Physical Fitness Awards to hundreds of schools and thousands of
students across the United States. Many schools, some of which may not have
previously been able to afford the program's recognition items, will now be
able to take part in the President's Challenge through the sponsorship of
Burger King Corporation. The program motivates children to strive for health
and fitness goals through daily physical activity and offers Presidential
awards for their achievements.
"We are pleased to take a leadership position for the Quick Service
Restaurant industry by partnering with the President's Challenge to bring
these beneficial programs to children throughout the country," said Brad Blum,
chief executive officer, Burger King Corporation. "Through the President's
Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness Awards Programs, we hope to reinforce
the importance of physical fitness as a part of everyday life, help kids fuel
the fire within and understand the concept of energy-in and energy-out."
Burger King Corporation will provide recognition items for students
completing the President's Challenge -- a series of fitness and exercise tests
for which a child can earn the Presidential Fitness Award -- at one school in
each of more than 200 market areas. Burger King Corporation's goal is to
sponsor recognition items at schools that have not previously been able to
provide them due to economic constraints.
"We appreciate Burger King Corporation's support of this historic
program," said Lynn Swann, chairman, President's Council on Physical Fitness
and Sports. "Their efforts to take the President's Challenge Physical
Activity and Fitness Awards Programs to new audiences will help even more kids
experience the fun of being physically active every day."
In addition to sponsoring schools across the country, Burger King
Corporation will help build awareness of the importance of physical fitness
and activity through messages in the kid-targeted "Adventures" newsletter
distributed at BURGER KING(R) restaurants and in Burger King Corporation's
direct mail program, which boasts membership of more than five million kids.
Burger King Corporation has also created a micro-site on http://www.burgerking.com as
a part of its partnership with the President's Challenge. On the site, kids
will be able to learn about the President's Challenge program and link to a
site where they can track their ongoing progress.
