Legislation Expands Availability of HSAs to Benefit American Consumers
MILWAUKEE, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Fortis Health Chairman Ben
Cutler, President and CEO Don Hamm, and Government Relations Director Kerry
Smith participated in the signing ceremony for the Medicare Prescription &
Modernization Act at the invitation of the White House. The Act includes a
provision for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), which will increase health
insurance options available to consumers, and make health insurance more
affordable. The Act also provides tax advantages for all Americans, while
putting individuals in control of their own health care costs.
"Fortis Health has provided unwavering support for affordable health
insurance options. We applaud President Bush for taking this critical step
today," said Cutler. The passing of this legislation creates a powerful new
incentive to purchase health insurance for Americans who currently do not have
coverage. It also provides important tax incentives for people who purchase
their own insurance.
