webMethods Helps Arctic Paper Fulfill 'Best of Breed' Strategy
FAIRFAX, Va., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- webMethods, Inc.
(Nasdaq: WEBME), a leading business integration software company, today
announced that Arctic Paper AB, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of high
quality paper for the graphics industry, is implementing the webMethods
Enterprise Services Platform(TM), a major component of webMethods Fabric, to
create an integrated technology infrastructure expected to improve business
process efficiencies and increase return on investment for existing
technologies.
Arctic Paper's technology strategy includes using what the company
believes are 'best of breed' ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) applications
in order to maintain its high standards for technology and keep technology
costs to a minimum. This strategy, however, has made integrating the various
systems a challenge, which is why Arctic Paper turned to webMethods Fabric.
Arctic Paper is working with webMethods to integrate several ERP systems
from Maximo and PeopleSoft with data residing at three separate locations
across Sweden and Poland. Once the project is completed, information from the
separate ERP systems will automatically flow through a chain of linked
applications, eliminating the time, cost and errors inherent to manually
re-keying data from one system into another system. Business process
efficiencies are expected to rise significantly, positively impacting customer
satisfaction levels and ultimately adding to the company's bottom line.
"We selected the webMethods Enterprise Services Platform because
webMethods presented a solution with which we can easily and cost effectively
integrate our existing business systems and derive additional value out of our
technology infrastructure," said Peter Liljenberg, information technology
manager, Arctic Paper. "With webMethods Fabric, Arctic Paper can operate in a
more efficient manner, better serve our customers and be well prepared for
future changes in our organization."
Another goal of the integrated infrastructure project is eventually to
extend Arctic Paper's enterprise planning to include its vendors, suppliers
and customers with minimal additional development efforts. Because the
webMethods Enterprise Services Platform supports all major technology and
industry standards, it enables Arctic Paper to complete real-time business-to-
business integration via the web or private networks, and it facilitates
business process automation and real-time information exchange between Arctic
Paper and other businesses of any size or technical capability.
"webMethods Fabric provides Arctic Paper with a solid foundation of
unparalleled integration capabilities to support their strategic business
initiatives," said Rich Chiarello, executive vice president, Worldwide
Operations, for webMethods, Inc. "This type of integration implementation is a
clear example of an industry-leading company that requires feature-rich,
standards-based and cutting-edge technologies to help them improve business
process, generate greater ROI for existing technology investments and prepare
to build out their next generation of business systems."
