Nolen will be responsible for representing Siemens in the United States,
which accounts for more than 20 percent of the global company's revenues. He
is tasked with growing the U.S. operations, increasing market share and
advancing programs to unify the company's more than 80 individual U.S.
business units into a cohesive portfolio under the Siemens brand.
Nolen succeeds Klaus Kleinfeld, who has been named a member of the
Corporate Executive Committee for Siemens AG, responsible for the company's
global information and communications businesses. Kleinfeld will also assume
special regional responsibilities for Russia, the former Soviet Republics,
Africa, and the Middle East, and will supervise the company's global strategic
planning function.
"It is an honor to lead Siemens USA at a time when we have such a great
future ahead of us," said Nolen. "Thanks to Klaus Kleinfeld's leadership, we
have a strong foundation for continued success in Siemens' largest and most
dynamic market. I look forward to working closely with my Siemens colleagues
across the United States to broaden the company's relationships with its
customers and partners."
Kleinfeld said: "I hold great admiration for the nearly 70,000 Siemens
colleagues in the U.S. and for what we have accomplished. In looking forward
to my new role at Siemens AG, I leave the States with full confidence that our
business here is well-positioned for growth."
Nolen, 47, will temporarily continue in his current role as the president
and CEO of Siemens Information and Communication Networks in the United
States. In the U.S., ICN provides integrated voice and data networks and
solutions for telecommunications carriers, cable providers and enterprise
customers. Nolen has been in this position since February 2002.
Previously, Nolen served as president and CEO of Siemens Enterprise
Networks LLC. In this position, which he held from 1998 until 2002, he was
responsible for building the enterprise business into a profitable
customer-focused solutions provider. Nolen joined Siemens in 1982 in sales
and went on to serve as senior vice president of sales and service for Siemens
Business Communication Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for sales
channels, distributor channels, national accounts, consultant resources,
Siemens customer support centers, telesales, and enhanced services within
North America.
Nolen is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is actively
involved in youth sports and other community programs.
