(Nasdaq: SCVL) has announced the winner of the Eastland Shoes $25,000
giveaway. The winner, 19-year-old Christopher Kinkade, is a private at Fort
Campbell/101st Airborne Division in Kentucky and a native of Johnstown,
Pennsylvania.
Shoe Carnival executives interrupted Private Kinkade during his duties as
a cook in the dining facility to surprise him with his check -- an early
Christmas present. When asked what he was going to do with his windfall, he
grinned, "I've been saving awhile for a new car and was hoping to buy it in
February, but now I won't have to wait."
According to Dave Kuhnlein, Shoe Carnival's Vice President of Marketing,
"$25,000 dollars is a lot of money, yet seeing the surprised reactions of
Private Kinkade and the other young soldiers from his unit was priceless."
Shoe Carnival's customers were encouraged to register in this month-long
promotion that was sponsored by Eastland Shoes. Private Kinkade's name was
drawn from over 100,000 entries.
