ST. LOUIS, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Engineered Support Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: EASI) announced several recent
promotions within its corporate and divisional organization. Daniel A.
Rodrigues and Timothy B. Fleischer have been promoted to the recently created
positions of Corporate Group President, according to Michael F. Shanahan, Sr.,
Chairman and CEO.
Rodrigues, President of the Company's Systems & Electronics Inc. (SEI)
subsidiary for the past two years, will be responsible for the oversight of
several Engineered Support business units, including SEI, Engineered Air
Systems, Marlo Coil and Keco Industries. He has held numerous positions of
increasing responsibility within SEI during his 25-year career in the defense
industry.
In his new role, Fleischer, previously President of the Company's Radian,
Inc. (Radian) subsidiary, will be responsible for Radian as well as for the
Fermont, Universal Power Systems, Inc. and ESSIbuy.com subsidiaries. Since
taking over Radian in 1994, it has grown from a small engineering services
firm into a much larger diversified provider of engineering and technical
support services to military and commercial customers with additional
expertise in the areas of asset protection/security systems and mobile
electric power generation and distribution equipment.
The Company expects these changes will yield substantial benefits in
realizing cross-organizational synergies as Engineered Support further
integrates the operations within its family of assembled businesses in the
manufacturing, engineering and business development areas. The moves further
support the Company's sound foundation for future growth.
In related moves, James T. Myrick was named President of SEI, filling the
position vacated by Rodrigues. Myrick, with over 35 years of tenure with SEI,
most recently served as Executive Vice President. Similarly, Richard P.
Dacey, who joined Radian in 1995 as its Executive Vice President & Chief
Operating Officer after a distinguished career with the U.S. Army, has been
promoted to the position of President to fill Fleischer's former post.
Shanahan commented, "Over the past several years, Dan and Tim have both
done an excellent job of leading their respective business organizations
through periods of rapid growth in revenues and earnings. By taking on even
broader responsibilities in their new roles, we believe that each will
continue to guide Engineered Support Systems towards future success as we
expand our portfolio of product and service offerings to customers in existing
and newly developing markets. And, with the promotions of Jim and Dick to
their new positions, we know that we are placing both SEI and Radian in quite
capable hands."
