Online Holiday Greetings Give New Twist to an Old Tradition

Gateway Country Stores Offer Free Service to Share Holiday Cheer With Family,
                                   Friends

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The annual holiday card ritual takes a
digital turn starting today, when 320 Gateway Country stores across North
America and Intel help customers use the Internet to exchange holiday
greetings in a video format.
The free service invites holiday shoppers to stop by their local Gateway
Country store and record a holiday video greeting they can e-mail to friends
and relatives. For those with friends and family who don't have access to a
PC, Gateway will provide postcards inviting recipients to view the video
greeting at a Gateway Country store near them. The sender just addresses the
cards and Gateway will mail them for free.
"The Internet is a great tool for bringing friends and families together,
and a holiday video greeting is a wonderful way to show off a new baby or just
capture a little more personality than a traditional greeting card can," said
Keith Martin, president, Gateway Country stores. "All year round, Gateway
Country's mission is to make technology useful and relevant to people in their
daily lives. With our holiday video greetings program, people can send a
unique greeting to friends while saving a lot of time -- all compliments of
Gateway and Intel as our way of sharing some holiday cheer with the many
communities in which we operate."
Holiday video greeting stations are in place at all 320 Gateway Country
stores in the U.S. and Canada. A Gateway sales advisor will assist consumers
with recording a message up to 15 seconds long and sending a link to it via
e-mail or a postcard to loved ones around the world. There is no limit on how
many people can receive the greeting. Greetings can be viewed at the stores
and online through January 15, 2001.
Gateway and Intel are offering a special holiday PC package for consumers
who enjoy the ease and excitement of sending photos and video over the
Internet. Starting at $1299, the system enables people to have their own
digital photo and video studio at home. The package includes a Gateway
Essential(TM) 866 with Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Processor, a 17-inch monitor
(15.9" viewable), speakers, one-year of America Online(1) and the Gateway
