introduced the Solo(R) 1400 notebook computer designed for a range of
consumers, small-office/home-office (SOHO) users, students and educational
institutions.  Improvements to the notebook include a large high-resolution
14.1-inch XGA TFT screen, a thinner design and greater overall performance.
The Solo 1400 expands Gateway's award-winning line of Solo notebook computers,
complemented today with the new Solo 5350 notebook computer.  (Please see

    The Solo 1400 combines mainstream mobile computing features at a price

drive, 24X CD-ROM drive and integrated floppy disk are all standard on the
system.
    The Solo 1400 includes an 850MHz Intel(R) Celeron(R) processor and 128MB
of RAM of memory, expandable to 512MB.  The Solo 1400 is available with
