WARRENDALE, Pa., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- James J. Padilla, group vice
president, Ford North America, will be the featured speaker at the SAE 2002
World Congress Annual Banquet in Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan on Thursday,
March 7th at 7 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom.
Since being named to group vice president on October 30, 2001, Padilla is
responsible for all operations -- including manufacturing, product
development, marketing, and sales -- of Ford brand cars and trucks in the
United States, Canada and Mexico.
Padilla joined Ford in 1966, beginning his career as a quality control
engineer. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he holds a bachelor's and master's
degree in chemical engineering and a master's degree in economics from the
University of Detroit. He was named a White House Fellow and served as
special assistant to the U.S. Secretary from 1978 to 1979. In 2001, he was
named a Fellow by the National Academy of Engineering, and Engineer of the
Year by the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference in 2000.
The SAE Annual Banquet is the showpiece of the four-day Congress where
executive panels and technical sessions discuss the latest automotive
technology.
