SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Hello Direct, Inc. today
announced that president Alec Glover has been named chief executive officer by
the Company's board of directors.
Mr. Glover, who joined Hello Direct in 1995 as executive vice president,
was appointed president and chief operating officer in June 1997.
"Since he became president, Alec has been instrumental in setting the
strategic direction of Hello Direct, and in refining and improving the
Company's operations," said chairman John Mumford. "He was the clear choice
to lead the Company through its next stage of growth."
In October, Glover unveiled a new strategic focus for Hello Direct that
included increased investment in the development of proprietary telephony
products, and an expansion of the Company's outbound telemarketing group. For
the first nine months of 1997, Hello Direct's net sales increased
27.7 percent, and net income rose 67.4 percent over the comparable period in
1996.
From 1983 to 1994, Glover was senior vice president, marketing and R&D for
Kransco Group Companies, a toy and sporting goods company. Prior to that, he
held several senior marketing management positions with Procter & Gamble from
1969 to 1983.
Glover is a graduate of Harvard University, and holds a Masters of
Business Administration from Stanford University.
