Santa and a Truckload of Food and Toys Donated by Ralphs to Receive
Presidential Escort to Schools and Shelters

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Yes, there is a Santa Claus. And on
Wednesday, December 14, "The Jolly One" and Mrs. Claus will make special
pre-Christmas visits to inner-city schools and shelters via a
Presidential-style motorcade bearing holiday cheer, food and gifts.
Santa's special visit is part of the 10th annual "A Better Christmas"
holiday food and toy distribution event, a program sponsored by the United
States Secret Service, the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles
Police Department that provides food and toys to hundreds of low-income and
homeless women and children.
Assisting the Secret Service, CHP and LAPD on their merry mission of good
cheer will be Ralphs Grocery Company, Mattel Toy Corp., NBC Studios, the Ann
and Issy Shabtay Family, Ron Shabtay, Snell's RV of El Monte and Valle
Wholesale Flowers of Los Angeles.
A unique sight for all to see, Santa and Mrs. Claus will forgo their
sleigh for one day to ride in the same Secret Service limousine the President
uses when visiting Los Angeles. CHP motorcycle and patrol units, and LAPD
Metropolitan Division patrol cars will escort the Presidential limousine.
Also included in the motorcade will be a Ralphs delivery truck filled with
food and toys to be distributed to the less fortunate.
The 20-vehicle holiday motorcade will make gift-giving stops at several
locations throughout Los Angeles, including a 9:30 a.m. visit to Tenth Street
Elementary School, 1000 Grattan Street, where Santa and his helpers will
distribute toys to students. (PRESS INVITED)
