Gateway's All-in-One Desktop PCs to Be Used for State Mandated Testing in
Computer Labs Across the District
IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc., the
nation's third-largest PC company, has signed a $2.2 million contract to
provide Kansas City Kansas Unified School District with more than 1,000 of
its award-winning Profile all-in-one desktop PCs.
The Gateway(R) Profile 6.0 and Profile 5.5 systems will help teachers
integrate technology into more than 49 schools in the district. Students in
first through twelfth grades will access these space-saving systems in
computer labs for state mandated online testing and in the classroom for
daily lessons. Educators will also use the systems for Internet research,
recording and tracking grades, lesson plans and other daily activities.
"The small form factor of the Gateway Profile desktops allows us to
maximize the limited workspace in our computer labs and classrooms," said
Joe Fives, director of Technology Information Services, Kansas City Kansas
Unified School District. "We've been working with Gateway for years and
appreciate the exceptional service and support they provide. We look
forward to continuing a successful relationship with Gateway well into the
future."
Gateway's Profile Series integrates the components of a traditional
desktop, including a LCD monitor and stereo speakers in a single
space-saving unit. Designed to be highly serviceable and easy to manage and
deploy, the Profile allows IT staff to save time and increase productivity
by having a single unit to track and support. The Profile's tool-less
chassis makes upgrades simple and the all-in-one design reduces cumbersome
cables for a clutter-free look, which makes it ideal for a school's
computer lab or classroom.
"We are pleased to help Kansas City Kansas Unified School District make
students more technologically adept by increasing their access to
state-of-the-art systems," said Vin Riera, Gateway vice president,
professional sales. "Our goal is to provide the best technology for our
customers, including the right products that meet their specific needs for
easy upgrades and a superior level of service and support."
