Boston Properties Wins 'Firm Of The Year' Award From NAIOP Of Northern Virginia

 Also Wins Two Best in Class Awards for Build-to-Suit and Speculative Office
                                  Buildings

    BOSTON, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston Properties, Inc. (NYSE: BXP) is
pleased to announce that it has recently won the "Firm of the Year" award, the
"Best in Class Award for Build-to-Suit Office Buildings under 150,000 Square
Feet," and the "Best in Class Award for Speculative Office Buildings under
150,000 Square Feet" from the Northern Virginia chapter of the National
Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP).
    The Firm of the Year honors were awarded to Boston Properties for the
Company's development achievements in the Greater Washington area in 1999,
during which it has already completed five projects totaling in excess of 1.1
million square feet.  The Company currently has seven projects totaling over
1.4 million square feet of development underway in the Washington area.
Boston Properties was also cited for its contributions to the local community,
specifically its three recent charitable donations to Childhelp USA, the
Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage and Florence Crittenton
Services of Greater Washington.
    Boston Properties received the award for Best in Class for Build-to-Suit
Office Buildings under 150,000 Square Feet for The Arboretum, a 96,000 square-
foot Class A office building developed for Landmark Systems and located in
Reston, Virginia.   Best in Class for Speculative Office Buildings under
150,000 Square Feet was awarded to Two Reston Overlook, a 131,000 square-foot
office building located in Reston, Virginia that achieved 100% leased status
upon completion.  Its major tenants include Sterling Software, Siebel Systems
and Sprint.
