Fifth Annual Showcase Will Introduce Innovative New Advanced Manufacturing
Technologies to Market
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMI has announced the "call
for innovations" for the fifth annual Technology Innovation Showcase (TIS)
to be held in conjunction with SEMICON West 2007. Submissions will be
accepted in the areas of nanotechnology, MEMS, test, assembly, packaging
and wafer processing. The application deadline is February 2, 2007.
The TIS highlights innovative companies, inventors and entrepreneurs,
while generating greater exposure for their technologies to a broad
audience composed of semiconductor manufacturers, suppliers and investors.
The three- day event will be held July 17-19, 2007, at the Moscone
Convention Center in San Francisco.
"The Technology Innovation Showcase has become one of the most
prestigious awards in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, attracting
key semiconductor manufacturers and industry executives," said Vicki
Hadfield, president of SEMI North America. "The program helps draw
attention to important new technical breakthroughs and innovative processes
in advanced manufacturing, ultimately resulting in quicker technological
proliferation and faster time to market."
SEMI welcomes participation by everyone from large companies,
individual inventors, start-ups and small to mid-sized businesses (SMB),
academia, and research institutions. A wide range of innovations can be
found in the TIS, and include entries from MEMS, nanotechnology and
energy-focused products such as fuel cells, batteries and photovoltaic
cells. All innovations must be new to the semiconductor field, address real
problems, and have data validating the innovation. Innovations may not be
fully released in the semiconductor market; however, they may be released
in other segments.
Innovations and applications submitted for consideration in the
competition will be reviewed by judges using a strict set of criteria
including technical merit, relevance and significance to the semiconductor
industry. Each winner of the competition will be assigned a time slot for a
technical presentation and a dedicated booth in a prime location.

attracted about 40,800 industry registrants in 2006. The exposition
continues to be the global communication platform for the worldwide
semiconductor industry.
