Gateway Country Stores to Carry Inventory for Last-Minute Shoppers; Quick Home Delivery Options Also Available for Orders Placed Until Dec. 23

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- To make giving the gift of a Gateway PC
a little easier for last-minute holiday shoppers, all 320 Gateway Country
stores for the first time will make a selection of popular systems available
for customers to take home immediately. While supplies last, customers buying
standard PCs with no customization features can get an award-winning Gateway
PC with no waiting for delivery -- right up until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
"Typically, customers prefer to take advantage of Gateway's build-to-order
capability to get a system that perfectly suits their personal requirements --
and they still can," said Cliff Holtz, senior vice president of Gateway's
consumer division. "But we know that last-minute holiday shoppers will
appreciate our making it easier to put a Gateway PC under the tree, in cases
where a non-customized system meets the needs of the person receiving the
gift."
Through Wednesday, Dec. 20, customers ordering most built-to-order Gateway
PCs via 1-800-Gateway or http://www.gateway.com will be guaranteed delivery in time
for Christmas at Gateway's standard shipping and handling rates, or Gateway
will refund shipping and handling.
For true procrastinators, Gateway will accept orders on certain PC systems
until noon (Central Standard Time) on Saturday, Dec. 23, with guaranteed
overnight delivery on Christmas Eve. Additional shipping and handling charges
apply and a limited selection of PCs will be available under this shipping
option.
Customers who prefer to buy locally from one of the 320 Gateway Country
stores will have the option -- while supplies last -- to choose from Gateway's
three most popular systems:

-- Gateway Essential 700 PC featuring an Intel Celeron processor for $799.
-- Gateway Essential 866 Digital Photo PC featuring an Intel Pentium III
processor for $1,299, including a free color printer, CD-rewritable
drive, digital camera and Gateway Photo:)Ware solutions package with
       training.
-- Gateway Select 1000 Digital Music PC featuring an AMD Athlon processor
for $1,599, including a free color printer, CD-rewritable drive and
Gateway Music:)Ware solutions package with training.

    Free Holiday Video Greetings
In addition to offering consumers last-minute shopping options, Gateway
Country stores are offering free holiday video greetings which can be emailed
to friends and family, even those who may not own a PC. Holiday shoppers can
stop by any Gateway Country store in North America and use the Internet to
exchange holiday greetings in a video format -- and be done with their holiday
outreach in a matter of minutes without having to fight the crowds at the post
office.
Gateway Country store employees will help consumers record a greeting of
up to 15 seconds, and send the recipient a link via email or, for recipients
without a PC, a postcard directing them to their local Gateway Country store
to view the greeting. The sender just addresses the postcards and Gateway
will mail them for free.
To make the holidays even brighter for 110 lucky winners, Gateway is
holding a drawing for consumers who visit their local Gateway Country store
during the holidays. Ten Digital Photography PCs with Photo:)Ware and
100 Intel Pocket PC Cameras will be awarded. No purchase is necessary to be
entered in the drawing.
