RESTON, Va., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has been
awarded a one-year, $68 million option on its U.S. Army Live Training Program,
allowing the company to continue providing life cycle contractor support for
tactical engagement, instrumentation and range training devices and systems
for the Live Training Program.
The award is the fifth of seven one-year options under an eight-year
contract. The initial contract, which was awarded in 1999 with a potential
value of $400 million, has grown to a potential of more than $800 million. The
contract is with the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation,
Training, and Instrumentation (PEO-STRI).
Under the option, Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC (RTSC) will
continue providing operations, maintenance, and field engineering services;
tactical and operational scenario writing, planning, and exercise control;
data collection, training analysis, analysis support, real-time after action
reviews, and training device products. The program also provides worldwide
instructional and maintenance support of Tactical Engagement Systems.
The program management office is located in Orlando, Fla., and work will
be performed at the National Training Center at Ft Irwin, Calif.; the Combat
Maneuver Training Center at Hohenfels, Germany; the Joint Readiness Training
Center at Ft. Polk, La. The Live Training Program staffs 16 field sites
worldwide from its central depot at Pomona, Calif., including Germany, Korea,
Italy and Kuwait.

As part of a joint venture with EG&G Technical Services known as JT3 LLC,
Raytheon also provides instrumented test and technical training support to the
U.S. Air Force under the Joint Range Technical Services contract. This effort
includes the management, operations and maintenance, and engineering and
technical services of the Nevada Test and Training Range, Nellis Air Force
Base, Nev.; the Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.;
the Utah Test and Training Range, Utah; and the U.S. Navy Electronic Combat
Range at Naval Weapons Center-China Lake, Calif.
