BioSpace has produced Genetown since 1995 with Massachusetts Biotechnology
Council (MBC) as a major supporter of the campaign throughout the duration.
Sponsored this year by Novartis Biomedical Research Center, Wyeth BioPharma
and Biogen Idec, Genetown 2005 highlights 50 life science organizations
including Antigenics, Genzyme, Idenix Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer. Other
companies participating in the campaign include products and service provider
PerkinElmer and scientific recruitment firm SRG Woolf Group. Research
institutes, non-profit organizations and universities within Massachusetts
also participated.
"We have seen the life sciences continue to flourish in Massachusetts over
the past decade. This is readily evident by looking at the expanded Genetown
campaigns and online presence of the community on BioSpace.com over the
years," said Brian Vacanti, Division Manager of BioSpace. "We are happy to be
working with MBC once again and look forward to another 10 years of Genetown."
The campaign features a Genetown Hotbed Map, created by BioSpace's
professional artist, which displays the corporate logos and facilities of
participating organizations. The map is further enhanced through the
integration of many functional components including a Genetown Hotbed
Homepage, on BioSpace's industry leading Website, BioSpace.com.
The original 1985 Biotech Bay(TM) Map for the San Francisco Bay Area hangs
on permanent display in the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of
American History.
