New Food 4 Less Store to Open in Henderson

Store is First of Eight Former Raley's to be Converted
to the Food 4 Less Banner

    LAS VEGAS, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Food 4 Less, the nation's leading
price-impact supermarket chain, is bringing the finest in service, quality,
variety and everyday low prices to Henderson when it opens its first store in
the city at 260 East Lake Mead Drive on Wednesday, December 18.
The 52,000 square-foot store is the first of eight former Raley's
locations to complete its conversion to Food 4 Less.
Featuring a state-of-the-art store design, the new Henderson Food 4 Less
will offer supermarket quality with a diverse selection of products,
destination departments and customer services -- all at the lowest prices in
town. For a 24-hour town, the store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a
week.
"We are very pleased to cast a vote of confidence in Henderson with this
major investment in the community," said Dave Hirz, president of Food 4 Less.
"We look forward to introducing Food 4 Less's special brand of friendly
service to customers who appreciate quality, variety and exceptional value."
Food 4 Less acquired the Henderson store as part of an agreement reached
by its parent company, The Kroger Co., to purchase 18 Raley's stores in the
Greater Las Vegas Area. Eight of the stores are being converted to the
Food 4 Less banner. Smith's Food & Drug Stores, also a division of the
Cincinnati-based Kroger Co., will operate the rest.
"We're excited about the potential of all of these supermarkets and look
forward to defining the future of supermarket shopping in Clark County by
providing state-of-the-art and value-added services for busy consumers," Hirz
said. "Food 4 Less offers a level of quality, selection and low prices that
has been embraced by consumers in each of the communities we serve. With
these additional stores, we have an opportunity to expand Food 4 Less's unique
approach to more communities in the Greater Las Vegas Area."
Shoppers visiting the new Henderson Food 4 Less will see many of the same
friendly people they came to know and count on when the store served the
community as a Raley's. Several former Raley's associates have joined
Food 4 Less, including Store Director Bill Cassels.
Cassels is excited about his store's conversion to the Food 4 Less banner.
"Our conversion to Food 4 Less is one of the best things that has happened
to this store in years," he said. "Food 4 Less is committed to making this
store the best supermarket in the community."
Cassels added that his team of 60 full-time and part-time associates "will
continue to work hard to provide customers with the finest in quality,
selection, service and value."
There will be something for everyone in the new Henderson Food 4 Less
store: from an abundance of farm fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as
quality meats and poultry and a grocery department stocked with thousands of
products at Food 4 Less' low everyday prices. Shoppers will also enjoy the
store's large club pack section and famous "Wall of Values," featuring many
name brand products at discounted prices.
In the spirit of offering shoppers a true, one-stop-shopping experience,
the new Henderson Food 4 Less will also feature several specialty departments,
including a fresh deli/bakery with a delicious selection of deli meats and
cheeses, party trays, freshly baked breads and decorated cakes, and a floral
department with fresh flowers and plants for any occasion.
As an added convenience, shoppers will be able to continue to take
advantage of the services offered by the store's pharmacy and in-store US Bank
branch.
Customers will also appreciate a wide range of other special services,
including postage stamps, motorized shopping carts for shoppers with mobility
impairments and specially designed shopping carts with infant carriers. The
modern store also features state-of-the-art equipment, energy-efficient
lighting and environmentally safe refrigeration.
"We are sure that customers will enjoy the great selection of groceries,
as well as all of the added services we will be offering at our new store in
Henderson," Hirz said.
As an introduction to the community, Food 4 Less will make donations
totaling $2,000 to Chaparral High School and Doris French Elementary School.
Hirz welcomed the opportunity to assist the community.
"Food 4 Less takes an active role in every community we serve," he said.
"It is our intention to be a good corporate citizen in Henderson. We will
remain open to new ways to meet community needs and to participate in
neighborhood improvement projects."
A number of other special events have also been scheduled as part of the
store's grand opening celebration, including free food samples and appearances
by several popular costumed characters. For children, the store will offer a
free moon bounce ride on Saturday and Sunday, December 21 and 22.
"Food 4 Less is committed to the community and to providing our customers
with exceptional service and value," Hirz said. "We want our shoppers to let
us know what they think about their new store and urge them to tell our store
staff. We look forward to serving the community for many years to come."
Food 4 Less has been serving the resident of Clark County since 1999 when
it acquired five former Price Rite stores. Today, Food 4 Less operates eight
stores in the county.

    Food 4 Less operates 120 price-impact, warehouse-format supermarkets under
the banners Food 4 Less in Southern California, Nevada, Illinois and Indiana,
and Foods Co in Northern California. Food 4 Less is a division of The Kroger
Co., (NYSE: KR), one of the nation's largest grocery retailers, headquartered
in Cincinnati, Ohio.
