DETROIT, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America -
Detroit Chapter (PRSA Detroit) held its annual meeting recently at the Detroit
Yacht Club.
The annual meeting -- a mix of chapter business, awards distribution,
dinner and a silent auction -- was an opportunity for nearly 200 of the
industry's professionals to celebrate a year's worth of accomplishments.
The event began at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction to
raise funds for the PRSA Scholarship Fund. The fund provides scholarships to
outstanding students in communications programs at accredited universities
throughout the state. This year's auction successfully raised over $5,000 for
the scholarship fund and has awarded nearly $25,000 in scholarships to 16
students since 1993.
The evening also included the induction of PRSA Detroit Hall of Fame
candidate, J.B. Dixson, APR, Fellow PRSA; presentation of the Robert Hefty
Distinguished Service Award to Peter Shinbach, APR and announcement of the
PRSA Detroit Scholarship Fund winners, Ashley Bell and Brian Winters, both of
Michigan State University.
