"Partnering with Operation Christmas Child allows the entire international
BURGER KING(R) system to reach out to children who are in need in both remote
parts of the world and close to home," said Rob Doughty, vice president of
strategic communications, Burger King Corporation. "We are proud to assist
them in providing holiday gifts to children this holiday season."
Through Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan's Purse invites children,
churches and civic groups to fill empty shoeboxes with toys, gifts, school
supplies, necessity items, a personal note and a photo of the giver. Burger
King Corporation's donated toys complement the gifts of others and provide
Operation Christmas Child volunteers with resources to make sure each box
packed to the top with holiday cheer. Since 1993, Samaritan's Purse has
collected and distributed over 24 million shoebox gifts in some 120 countries.
Burger King Corporation's toy donation came from BURGER KING(R) markets in
the United States, Latin America and Europe. Burger King Corporation employees
in Miami will also participate by packing shoebox gifts to benefit Operation
Christmas Child.
"Burger King Corporation's kind support of Operation Christmas Child will
go a long way in helping improve the holiday season for many children
throughout the world," said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse,
the organization leading the project. "These toys from Burger King Corporation
are the perfect fit to complete our gift boxes and will help to bring color,
laughter and joy into the life of a needy child. We are pleased to have them
as a worldwide partner."
