RxAmerica Announces a Three-Year Claims Processing and Pharmacy Mail Service Agreement With Salt River Project

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- RxAmerica announced today that it
has finalized an agreement to provide integrated claims processing and
pharmacy mail services to Salt River Project (SRP), effective January 1, 1998.
SRP is a major multipurpose reclamation project providing energy and water
services to metropolitan Phoenix. Created in 1903 through provisions of the
National Reclamation Act, SRP now is the nation's third-largest public power
utility and one of Arizona's largest water suppliers. SRP provides
electricity to about 650,000 customers in central Arizona, and also
administers water rights and provides water management services to a 240,000-
acre service territory in metropolitan Phoenix.
RxAmerica is a pharmacy benefit management company that uses advanced
technology to improve member satisfaction and control health care costs.
RxAmerica's team of professionals provide quality integrated pharmacy programs
through a nationwide pharmacy network, a technologically advanced mail service
facility, and two satellite mail facilities.
RxAmerica's services include claims processing, clinical pharmacy
programs, drug utilization review, medical claim integration, cost based
formulary, outcome management, and a comprehensive reporting package that
includes executive summary reports.
RxAmerica was selected as Salt River Project's new claims processor and
mail service pharmacy because of their ability to offer a low cost integrated
mail service. RxAmerica was also noted for treating all their customers as if
they were the most important, rather than trying to be the largest PBM in the
industry. Providing excellent customer service and generic drug programs were
other deciding factors.
RxAmerica will provide claims processing and pharmacy mail services to
approximately 10,000 Salt River Project lives through their Fort Worth, Texas
mail service facility. The newest of RxAmerica's mail service facilities, the
Fort Worth mail service pharmacy has capacity to double its volume, providing
Salt River Project the ability to grow as their membership base expands. This
facility also provides Salt River Project with technology that has enhanced
the customer service effort -- more prescriptions are processed through
automated systems to decrease turnaround time on orders as well as increase
the quality of the service.
RxAmerica is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. RxAmerica operates
pharmacy mail service facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ontario, California,
and Fort Worth, Texas, and has eight regional sales offices throughout the
country. For more information or to request a brochure describing services in
detail, inquirers may call RxAmerica at 801-961-6000.
