Former Holiday Inn Becomes Four Points By Sheraton New Orleans Airport Hotel

Brand's First Hotel in Cajun Country Opens After Recent $5 Million Renovation

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts
Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) has announced its first Four Points by Sheraton
hotel in New Orleans which converted from a Holiday Inn on December 4.
Located in Metairie, Louisiana, the new Four Points By Sheraton New Orleans
Airport hotel is the brand's first property to open in the metro New Orleans
area. The property recently completed a $5 million renovation.
The hotel is franchised by White Plains, N.Y.-based Starwood Hotels and
Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Starwood owns and manages such familiar brands as
Westin, Sheraton, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels and Four Points
by Sheraton.
Situated in suburban Metairie, the hotel is located in close proximity to
many of New Orleans' prime tourist attractions. The Four Points by Sheraton
New Orleans Airport hotel is only three miles from New Orleans Airport, 11
miles from the French Quarter, 10 miles from the Superdome, 10 miles from the
New Orleans Convention Center and four miles from Pontchartrain Center.
The six-story hotel has 220 rooms, including three, one-bedroom suites,
incorporating 5,500 square feet of meeting space, a 3,275 square foot ballroom
and three additional meeting rooms. Hotel amenities include an outdoor pool
and separate jacuzzi, a 24-hour fitness center, The Bayou Cafe, Plantation
Alley Lounge and complimentary airport shuttle bus.
"The Four Points brand is extremely well positioned for the New Orleans
Airport market," remarked Sam Winterbottom, President, Franchise Operations,
Starwood Hotels & Resorts, North America. "The mid-priced customer from both
commercial and leisure market segments is looking for a Four Points product in
a suburban airport location such as Metairie. This fine hotel will supplement
Starwood's strategy of providing hotels at major airports around North
America, such as Los Angeles, Chicago O'Hare, Detroit and Buffalo. Starwood's
frequent guest program, Starwood Preferred Guest(SM), will offer the traveler
to New Orleans the benefits of this hugely successful program and most of our
major airline partners fly into New Orleans. Additionally, the new Four
Points will complement the Sheraton New Orleans when that hotel needs to find
room for some of its large group customers, or transient customers, when it is
booked to capacity."
"We're very excited about the opening of our new hotel," noted Peter
Rogovin, Vice President, Marketing, Four Points by Sheraton. "New Orleans is
one of the South's major tourist destinations and business hubs. It is our
first hotel in this area, and since it is conveniently located near all of the
city's main tourist attractions and sports venues, it will no doubt become one
of the area's most popular. The hotel is a welcome addition to the Four
Points by Sheraton portfolio and the fact that it is an airport hotel in one
of the South's largest cities, will be much anticipated by the mid-priced
consumer seeking a full-service hotel at an exceptional value."
Four Points by Sheraton is the mid-priced brand of Starwood Hotels &
Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Unlike most mid-priced hotels, all Four Points by
Sheraton hotels are full-service properties offering room service; on-premise
restaurants; meeting rooms with catering capabilities, and a fitness facility
(most with swimming pools).
Since the first Four Points by Sheraton hotel opened five years ago, the
brand has become Starwood's fastest growing hotel chain, expanding to 140
properties across the United States and in 12 countries around the world.
