Siemens Transportation Systems Announces New President and CEO

    SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Corporation announced
that Oliver O. Hauck, has been named president and chief executive officer for
Siemens Transportation Systems, Inc. (STS).  He succeeds Roelof van Ark, who
will assume the roll of senior vice president of marketing, business
development and turnkey projects.
    The leadership transition was effective December 1, 2001.  Mr. Hauck will
be based at the STS headquarters in Sacramento, California.

    To this new role, Mr. Hauck brings more than two decades of senior
management experience with Siemens.  Since 2000, he has served as senior vice
president of the Process Industries Division of Siemens Energy & Automation in
Alpharetta, Georgia.  In this position he led a new division created to
strengthen Siemens' overall position within the industrial market by realizing
the potential for future growth and a stronger customer alignment.
    He began his career with Siemens in 1982 as a systems engineer for the
metals industry.  In 1985, Mr. Hauck joined Siemens Energy & Automation as a
senior systems engineer.  Since then, he has held several management positions
within the company's systems business.  In 1998 he was promoted to president,
Siemens Westinghouse Technical Services, when Siemens acquired Westinghouse's
Electrical Engineering Services Division.
    A native of Germany, Mr. Hauck holds a master's degree in electrical
engineering from the Technical University of Erlangen/Nuremberg, Germany.  He
has spent more than 15 years of his career with Siemens in the United States.
