WASHINGTON, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- When Santa and his reindeer circle the
globe this Christmas eve, a government wish-list for $92 billion in technology
to support homeland security, federal enterprise architecture, knowledge
management and other critical imperatives will be on board the sleigh.
Delivery will begin in earnest on Tuesday-Thursday, March 7-9 during FOSE
2006, government's premier techfest at the Washington DC Convention Center.
FOSE 2006 is the 30th annual gathering of 25,000 government technology buyers
and 550 firms that supply them with the latest computing tools.
"When government geeks lay down to sleep on Christmas Eve, visions of the
latest technology they'll view at FOSE 2006 will dance in their heads,"
quipped Lorenz Hassenstein, Vice President, Events, PostNewsweek Tech Media,
the division of the Washington Post Company that owns FOSE. "Buyers from all
the branches in government will be dreaming about secure wireless networks,
radio frequency identification technologies (RFID), the federal enterprise
architecture, and the entire gamut of solutions they'll discuss, trial run and
buy at FOSE 2006."
FOSE 2006, held on March 7-9, 2006, launches the Federal buying cycle as
the U.S. government budget is approved in February and technology
professionals put pen to paper for their purchase plans. Leading market
research firm INPUT, Inc. predicts that over $200 billion from 1,644
technology-related programs will be awarded during fiscal year 2006.
Government technology professionals will award billion dollar plus contracts
from the U.S. General Services Administration, Department of Agriculture,
Army, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Justice, Treasury,
Veterans Affairs, NASA, and various defense agencies during 2006.
