WILKES-BARRE, Pa., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- PG Energy PowerPlus announced
today that it will extend its marketing efforts as a licensed electricity
supplier to newly selected participants in Pennsylvania's electric pilot
program.
In October, electric utility companies throughout the state selected 5% of
their customers to participate in the pilot program from among those who had
volunteered. Participants were given until November 14 to select a supplier
of their electricity but, according to the Pennsylvania Public Utility
Commission, an insufficient number of participants made a choice.
Consequently, another lottery will be held from among the volunteers. These
new participants will be notified by their electric utility starting
November 26 and will have until January 16, 1998, to indicate their choice of
supplier.
PG Energy PowerPlus is the name of the marketing alliance between PG
Energy Services, based in Wilkes-Barre, and Pittsburgh-based CNG Energy
Services, one of the largest wholesale electricity generators in the country.
PG Energy PowerPlus is available to both residential and commercial pilot
participants in a 26-county area in the eastern half of Pennsylvania.
According to Joseph F. Perugino, President and CEO of PG Energy Services,
"PG Energy PowerPlus has proven to be one of the most economical suppliers of
electricity in the pilot program. We're proud to offer our customers a
contract that guarantees a 10% savings on their entire electric bill. Our
