NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- General Pediatrics of Dupage
Medical Group (GPDMG) of Downers Grove, Ill., today announced the adoption of
PortMD(SM), an Internet-driven ADHD and behavioral disorder assessment and
tracking system created for pediatricians.
PortMD is a computer-based service designed for physicians,
testing/learning centers and families. PortMD accelerates the diagnostic
process of ADHD and other behavioral disorders with its ability to
electronically gather input from a variety of sources, specifically parents,
teachers, physicians and other healthcare professionals. Working via a secure
site on the Internet, PortMD allows parents, educators and physicians to
complete assessment tests at their convenience from work, school or home.
"We are able to improve our care and services to these children because of
the reduced time it takes us to complete the assessment and diagnosis
utilizing PortMD," said Dr. James Pollack of GPDMG. "The family, school and
anyone else involved in the day-to-day care of the child can work together,
for the first time online, to access, intervene and monitor a patient's care."
PortMD organizes the information in a clearly defined format that is
readily available to the physician. These results are then used in
combination with a physical examination of the child and interviews with the
family to help physicians and mental health professionals conduct a more
thorough, timely and complete evaluation of the child. If ADHD is diagnosed,
the PortMD Monitor tool can be used to help manage the patient's treatment
plan and track the outcomes.
PortMD was created to meet the American Academy of Pediatrics Practice
Guidelines for Diagnosing and Evaluating a Child with ADHD.
