The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation to Donate $250,000 to Southern California Children's Hospitals

    LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ralphs Supermarkets and Food 4
Less Stores are pleased to announce that they plan to raise $250,000 for
children's hospitals in Southern California. The donations represent monies
being collected during a month-long fundraising campaign held to support
five local children's hospitals.
    Throughout December, the Ralphs and Food 4 Less family of stores is
offering customers and associates the opportunity to make monetary
donations to help support hospital-bound children in Southern California.
    Customers and associates can support Southern California's children's
hospitals through the supermarket chains' nonprofit arm, The Ralphs/Food 4
Less Foundation, by donating their spare change in collection canisters
located at the checkstands in their neighborhood Ralphs and Food 4 Less
stores through December 31.
    The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation will make $50,000 grants to each of
the following children's hospitals:
      *  Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
      * Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC)
      *  Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego
      * Loma Linda University Children's Hospital
      * Miller Children's Hospital at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center
    "Ralphs and Food 4 Less believe strongly in giving back to the
community," said Dave Hirz, Ralphs president. "We're excited to extend our
commitment to children's hospitals in Southern California. We cannot think
of a better way to invest in our community than by giving families and
children hope through our support of the innovative work these hospitals
are doing to provide world-class medical care for so many children."

support.
    Last year, Ralphs and Food 4 Less provided more than $12 million in
cash and in-kind donations to organizations focused on health, education,
the fight against hunger, and developing our youth.
