Interstate Power and Light Company Successfully Closes Transmission Assets Sale With ITC Midwest

 Company transfers 6,800 miles of transmission lines and related assets to
                      independent transmission company

    CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interstate Power
and Light Company (IPL), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE:
LNT) announced today that the company has successfully closed the sale
transaction of its transmission assets to ITC Midwest LLC (ITC Midwest), a
subsidiary of ITC Holdings Corp. (NYSE: ITC).

    With the closing of the sale transaction and settlement of closing
adjustments, ITC Midwest purchased IPL's transmission assets, including
approximately 6,800 miles of 34.5 kV and above transmission lines,
substation facilities and transmission land rights for approximately $783
million. The transaction is subject to various post closing adjustments.
