Akron-Canton Airport Adds Free Cell Phone Lot

                   And Other Customer Service Enhancements

GREEN, Ohio, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Have you ever circled a busy airport
or attempted to wait on the curb while a loved one, dear friend or business
associate arrived on a flight? If so, Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) has a great
solution for you. A new designated free waiting area has recently opened just
north of the terminal building and immediately past long term lot B.
Motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free, although they must
remain in their vehicles at all times, until passengers call to say they are
ready to be picked up terminal curbside.
"We are committed to offering an exceptional customer experience," said
airport director Fred Krum. "It's what sets us apart. The free waiting lot and
other service enhancements help make Akron-Canton a better travel choice."
In addition to the free waiting lot, airport officials are also pleased to
announce two new initiatives to help make gate screening a more pleasant
experience: traveler tote bags and a Checkpoint Mailer(R). The complimentary
traveler totes are small plastic bags in which passengers place their pocket
contents - cell phone, wallet, spare change, etc ... prior to approaching the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoint. The totes
expedite leaving the screening lane after the safety inspection. The
Checkpoint Mailer(R) on the other hand, makes it easy to mail a prohibited
item back home. It is a great option for passengers wishing to keep a banned
but important personal item. A TSA team member will be on hand to assist
passengers with the mailing process. Most shipped items will cost $8. Shipping
a butane lighter though will cost $10 because of the extra steps involved in
emptying its contents.
AirTran Airways, Delta Connection, Northwest Airlink, United Express and
US Airways Express serve the growing Akron-Canton market. The airport is
currently in the third phase of the $60 million, five-year STAR expansion
project, which focuses on building a new $24 million gate concourse and a new
Shuffel Road interchange. The first two phases included longer runways, a new
baggage claim wing, additional car parking and a food court with national
brands. Additional airport information is available
