North America's Largest Electronic Systems Design Event to Feature
Comprehensive Training Program, Return of Microprocessor Summit and
Co-Location of the D2M Conference 2006
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CMP Media today announced
the program details for its Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Silicon Valley
(http://www.embedded.com/esc/sv), the largest electronic systems design event in
North America. From April 3-7, 2006, ESC returns to the heart of Silicon
Valley, where San Jose's McEnery Convention Center will welcome thousands of
the world's electronics engineering elite, members of the international press,
investors and business executives, gathered in one place to learn about the
industry's latest innovations and technological achievements. Conference
highlights include a comprehensive technical program and series of design
seminars, an exhibit show floor featuring the industry's top players, a
keynote address by inventor and education advocate Dean Kamen, the return of
the popular Microprocessor Summit and the co-location of the D2M Conference
2006.
The five-day Embedded Systems Conference will showcase the latest
developments in enabling technologies, systems and software products, and
tools created by the electronics industry's most innovative minds -- the
Creators of Technology. ESC Silicon Valley will welcome over 300 leading
exhibitors and feature more than 194 classes and design seminars to give
engineers and engineering managers thorough training and understanding of the
industry's most critical themes -- like analog and power, Linux and DSP,
Consumer Video, and Wireless Networking.
"We are excited to be bringing the Embedded Systems Conference back to
Silicon Valley, home to so many great innovators, who are shaping the future
with their technological achievements," said Paul Miller, senior vice
president and group director, CMP Media's Electronics and Software Development
Media Groups. "For the thousands of engineers looking for the latest
developments in enabling technologies, new products, techniques and best
practices affecting their designs, plus the opportunity to make strategic
partnerships, ESC is the not-to-be-missed industry event -- five days jam
packed with training and design seminar programs, and the chance to meet
hundreds of exhibitors and network with peers."
Now in its 18th year, the Embedded Systems Conference will feature
194 solutions-oriented technical sessions providing engineers with the
fundamental tools they need to develop state-of-the-art embedded systems, and
gain knowledge of methodologies, processes, and techniques. Attendees will get
important updates on topics in embedded software development,
hardware/software integration, debugging, real-time development, programmable
logic design, wireless and wired connectivity and security. For the complete
Embedded Systems Conference technical program, visit:
http://www.embedded.com/esc/sv.
Attendees to the exhibit show floor will be able to meet and mingle with
over 300 of the industry's leading hardware, software and development tool
solutions vendors. Companies like IBM, Texas Instruments, Intel, Green Hills
Software, Microsoft, Xilinx, Freescale, International Rectifier, Renesas
Technology, ST Micro, and Philips Semiconductor will demonstrate new systems
and give conference-goers an opportunity to meet product experts. ESC
exhibition hours are Tuesday, April 4 (1:00 - 7:00 p.m.), Wednesday, April 5
(10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.), and Thursday, April 6 (10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.). For

Dean Kamen Provides Keynote Address at ESC, Tuesday, April 4
(12:00 - 1:00 p.m.)
Inventor and technology advocate Dean Kamen will provide the keynote
address at this year's conference. Kamen is one of the industry's most
innovative engineers and holds more than 150 U.S. and foreign patents, many of
them for medical devices that have revolutionized the healthcare industry. In
2001, Kamen unveiled the Segway(TM) Human Transporter (HT), an electric
powered personal transportation machine that moves by shifts in one's body
weight. As a tireless supporter of children's education, he founded For
Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), an organization
that inspires high school students to pursue careers in science.
Microprocessor Summit Back for Second Year
The popular Microprocessor Summit 2006 will return to ESC on Monday, April
3 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. The Summit, chaired by Jim Turley,
editor-in-chief of Embedded Systems Programming, provides a forum for embedded
designers, chip architects, chip industry executives, analysts, press, and
venture capitalists to hear about the latest in microcontrollers and
processors, and for major semiconductor companies to discuss future plans. The
one-day program includes the exclusive release of results of the 2006 ESD
Embedded Survey, juried announcements of new products by leading chip vendors,
coupled with a discussion led by an editorial moderator, and sessions focused
on today's shipping processors.
D2M Conference 2006 Joins Forces with ESC
This year, A2 Technologies' D2M Conference 2006 will come to ESC Silicon
Valley, April 4- 6, welcoming industry innovators and decision-makers across
the design, power, test and measurement, green technology, embedded, and
component sectors. For detailed information on the three-day D2M conference,
visit http://www.embedded.com/esc/sv/d2m/ .
"Partnering with CMP provides attendees of ESC and D2M with a one-stop
educational resource on managerial and engineering issues," said James
Hungerford, President of A2 Technologies. "Attendees of both events are not
just given access to the finest technical design innovations available, but
will also be treated to a highly focused program on subjects that matter
across the design and development process such as DFM, Power Electronics, RoHS
and Test and Measurement. Being co-located at the same venue was a logical
step and the attendees of the event will reap the benefits from the
synergistic energy created by the co-location."
