Electronics Boutique Experiencing Strong Holiday Season

Comp Store Sales for the Nine-Week Holiday Period Ending January 1, 2000
                         Expected to Increase 8%-10%

WEST CHESTER, Pa., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronics Boutique Holdings
Corp. (Nasdaq: ELBO) today announced that it is in the midst of record sales
for the nine-week Holiday period ending Jan. 1, 2000. Strong product demand
for Pokemon Toys and Trading Cards, PC Games, as well as Sega Dreamcast, and
Nintendo GameBoy, more than offset the anticipated decline of Playstation and
N64, which combined with Electronic Boutique's inventory management and
"product savvy" sales approach is resulting in strong comparable store sales.
The Company believes that for the nine-week Holiday Season ending January 1st
comp store sales will increase 8%-10%. Electronics Boutique expects to
announce holiday sales totals on January 6, 2000.
With respect to Internet sales, month-to-date sales for December have
already exceeded the $4.3 million of Internet sales for all of Fiscal 99.
EBWorld.com expects sales to fall between $14 and $16 million for all of
fiscal 2000. Electronics Boutique's ability to move Internet products through
its advanced distribution system has been a large contributor to EBWorld.com's
success. Currently, EBWorld.com is still shipping new orders for Christmas
Eve delivery.
"We couldn't be more pleased with our performance for the 1999 holiday
sales period," commented Joseph J. Firestone, President and Chief Executive
Officer. "The holiday period is being defined by strong product demand for
both electronic games and PC entertainment software and we are satisfying this
demand through all of our sales channels. We've invested many years in
developing an infrastructure that enables us to predict what will be hot, and
more importantly, be in the position to supply that product overnight to the
consumer."
Electronics Boutique is one of the leading specialty retailers of video
and computer games and also sells video game hardware, PC productivity
software and accessories. The company currently operates 595 stores in
46 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Australia and South Korea, primarily under the
names Electronics Boutique and Stop 'N Save Software. The company has also
established a separate e-commerce subsidiary, EBWorld.com, Inc.
