California Emergency Organizations Buying Sandbaggers to Protect Residents from El Nino

WAUCONDA, Ill., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- California businesses and
government organizations since mid-October have been purchasing sandbagging
machines at the rate of one every other day, said Stacey Kanzler, president of
the Sandbagger Corp., Wauconda, Illinois.
She said orders have come from throughout the state as emergency managers
prepare for the potentially destructive El Nino. A total of 55 Sandbaggers
have been sold in the state since the company was founded four years ago with
35 of the sales this fall.
The machine can fill up to 1,600 sandbags an hour using up to six people
for a total of 38,000 sandbags a day. In many emergency situations preteen
girls and boys were utilized to fill the bags indicating the safety and ease
of operating the Sandbagger, said the company president.
Kanzler, whose product was approved recently by the military, said
emergency officials are charged with the responsibility of providing a proper
and safe response to disasters. The Sandbagger should be the first product in
their arsenal for fighting floods, she said.
The machine also is used for many other purposes that include fighting
fires, erosion and for filling highway department and public works department
sandbags for their many purposes.
Police, water and levee districts and corporate customers are finding new
uses for them as well, said Kanzler. The ease of moving, starting and using
the Sandbagger, along with the speed of operations, at least 40 times faster
than the back breaking method of using a shovel, appeals to people acquiring
the Sandbagger, she said.
In the past month, the company also introduced its first non sandbagging
equipment, a multibagger for bagging compost and mulch. The machine is
environmentally friendly and can bring in added income for government or
businesses selling these materials.
The four year old Sandbagger Corp. can be reached by calling them on the
toll free number of 800-770-SAND, writing to P.0. Box 626, Wauconda, Illinois
60084, or through e-mail at sanbagger@aol.com.
