SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. shares enjoyed
modest activity in Tuesday's extended trading session, enlivened by news that
the company extended its senior notes exchange offer.
The Nasdaq-100 After Hours Indicator, which tracks the evening action of
the index's leading shares, was last up 0.28 points to 1,668.65.
Chesapeake Energy shares were among the evening's most heavily traded
shares after the company said it has extended its offer to exchange its 6.5%
senior notes due in 2017 for any and all of its outstanding 6.5% senior notes
due in 2017 that were issued on Aug. 16 in a private offering.
The offer had been scheduled to expire Dec. 23. Shares of the natural-gas
producer slipped 3 cents to $30.65.
Tessera Technologies Inc. shares also enjoyed a late burst of activity
after the company said has completed purchasing certain assets of Shellcase
Ltd., including all of that company's technology, for $33 million in cash.
Shares of Tessera, which provides miniaturization technologies for
electronics, shed 10 cents to $26.25.
