WAYNE, Penn., Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Escalon Medical Corp.
(Nasdaq: ESMC) today announced that it was granted FDA approval for its high-
end digital camera system for ophthalmologists known as the CFA Digital
Imaging System.  The system will be marketed through Escalon Medical Imaging,
LLC, the Company's joint venture with MegaVision, Inc.
    Ophthalmologists routinely use photography as a diagnostic tool to detect
problems in the retinas of diabetic and elderly patients.  The digital cameras
produced by MegaVision offer high-resolution imaging that provides significant
benefits over cameras that use conventional film.  This high-resolution
picture is the result of a chip that provides 2,000 by 3,000 line resolution.
These images can be easily viewed through a personal computer for analysis and
then stored electronically.  The system will provide the benefit of obtaining
an instant, high-resolution image that allows the patient to be examined,
diagnosed and treated in one visit.  This provides for improved patient
outcomes with lower costs.
    Escalon Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Richard J. DePiano,
