CONCORD, Mass., Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Starmet Comcast, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Starmet Corporation (Nasdaq: STMT) of Concord, Massachusetts,
today announced the formation of a Joint Venture Corporation with R-Cubed
Composites, of West Jordan, Utah and Advanced Products Laboratories, of
Fremont, California. The Corporation, TrioStar was established to match
specialized technical and manufacturing capabilities to support the growing
demand for assembly line mass production of hybrid, composite and metallic
structures used in low-Earth-orbiting satellites needed for global
communication networks.
TrioStar will provide customers fully fabricated satellite sub-assemblies
using demonstrated technologies, combining the desirable characteristics of
light weight and high stiffness in structures at an affordable price. These
structures would represent hybrid systems combining advanced metallic and non-
metallic technologies.
TrioStar has submitted a substantial proposal, exceeding $200 million, to
a major satellite manufacturer. The Company anticipates significant
additional proposal activity in support of Low-Earth orbiting satellite
networks.
The Corporate headquarters for TrioStar will be in West Jordan, Utah.
Hardware manufacturing will be performed at Starmet Comcast's facilities in
Massachusetts and Advanced Products Laboratories facilities in California.
Program Management, non-metallic composite fabrication, final assembly and
system integration would be at the joint TrioStar and R-Cubed facilities in
West Jordan, Utah.
Starmet Comcast is a manufacturer of commercial metal products for
electronic, sport and motion control applications utilizing investment and
permanent mold casting techniques.
