(Nasdaq: FVNB) has acquired a branch of the Frost National Bank located at
421 Green Avenue in Taft, Texas. The branch had total deposits of
approximately $24.3 million on December 5, 1997, when the acquisition was
finalized. The bank opened as First Victoria National Bank - Taft on Monday,
December 8, 1997. First Victoria National Bank - Taft will operate as a full-
service location offering a wide range of commercial banking services.
According to David M. Gaddis, President and Chief Executive Officer of
First Victoria National Bank, the acquisition will enable the Bank to better
serve the financial needs of farmers, ranchers and agri-businesses in San
Patricio County and surrounding counties, as well as provide quality financial
services to all residents. First Victoria National Bank has built a
reputation as being the leading agriculture bank in South Texas.
After closing the transaction on December 5, 1997, First Victoria National
Bank had total deposits of approximately $406 million and total assets of
approximately $490 million. Established in 1867, First Victoria National Bank
is the second oldest independent bank in Texas. In addition to the Taft
location the Bank has offices in Victoria and Port Lavaca, and a loan
production office in Corpus Christi.
