Between Broadcasting Giant and Fastest Growing Business Intelligence Service
LONDON, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Political and economic news gathered by the
BBC from local television and radio broadcasts and news agency reports
originating in 140 countries is now available to subscribers of business
intelligence services provider WavePhore Newscast, a division of WavePhore
Inc. (Nasdaq: WAVO). WavePhore Newscast announced its worldwide
redistribution and archiving alliance with BBC Worldwide Monitoring at the
Online Information '97 conference here.
The political and economic news focuses on local reporting from Africa,
Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South America, and the former Soviet Union
which is gathered as part of the broadcasting giant's BBC Monitoring service.
Local broadcast and agency dispatches from 140 countries, covering 70
languages, are monitored, recorded and translated in the U.K. by the BBC, and
then are immediately fed into the Newscast Today service. Six months of
reporting is also available for archival search and retrieval.
The addition of BBC Monitoring's International Reports expands Newscast
Today's already formidable portfolio of international business news and
information sources. Other European-based content providers to Newscast Today
include the Economist Intelligence Unit, Financial Times including AFX News,
and M2 Communications. Additional European-based sources are expected be
announced next month.
