EDISON, N.J., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- KCS Energy, Inc. (NYSE: KCS) today
announced the appointment of Gene C. Daley as president of its Mid-Continent
division, KCS Medallion Resources. In other moves, J. Chris Jacobsen, senior
vice president exploration, development and reserves of KCS Medallion
Resources, will assume the additional responsibility as director of reservoir
engineering for all of KCS Energy, and John Nikonchik has been named general
manager of KCS Michigan Resources.
Mr. Daley, 47, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in
geological engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, has
served as senior vice president of exploration and development at Medallion
Resources from April 1992 to February 1997 and as senior vice president of
production since March 1997. Mr. Daley started his career in 1972 with Texaco
as an offshore exploration geologist, became president of Carter Resources, a
private company in 1974 and following the acquisition of Carter Resources,
became vice president and general manager-oil and gas for InterCoast Energy
Company in 1991. He is a member of the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum
Association.
Mr. Jacobsen, 42, has served as senior vice president exploration,
development and reserves of Medallion Resources since March 1997, and prior to
that as senior vice president reserves and production since 1995. Prior to
joining Medallion in 1994, Mr. Jacobsen was with Netherland, Sewell &
Associates for over 12 years, where he was senior vice president since 1989.
Prior to that, Mr. Jacobsen held various engineering positions with Exxon
Company USA for five years. He is a registered professional engineer and a
member of the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association.
Mr. Nikonchik, 43, has served in various reservoir engineering positions
with KCS Resources since 1990, most recently as director of reservoir
engineering and evaluations. Mr. Nikonchik began his career with Marathon Oil
Company from 1976 to 1981, and worked for several independent producers from
1981 to 1989. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas
Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of Society
of Petroleum Engineers.
