Agreement Will Provide Enhanced Knowledge-Based Features
                      For WAN and Internet Users Worldwide

    OTTAWA, Canada, May 21 /PRNewswire/ - Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
FULCF; TSE: FUL) and Blue Angel Technologies, Inc. today announced a business
relationship under which the two companies will integrate their software to
provide users with an enhanced ability to turn information into knowledge.
    As a newly signed Fulcrum Alliance Network(TM) partner, Blue Angel will
create an integration of its Meta Data Server(TM) and Fulcrum
SearchServer(TM). This integration will allow the companies to offer
enterprise knowledge management tools that comply with the NISO Z39.50
standard for wide area searching, and the Government Information Locator
Service (GILS) standard, which are particularly important standards to the
government and library communities worldwide.  This solution will provide an
attractive option for the WAISServer customers that Fulcrum has been working
with since it acquired the WAIS business from AOL in 1996.

    Today's announcement means that customers will have an enhanced ability to
reach distributed Internet information resources.  Databases around the world
can be readily managed and published within an organization, so that others
can discover and easily use these resources.  Since underlying standards
support graphic as well as textual information, today's announcement will open
up opportunities for other companies to develop innovative new products and
services that work with this solution.
    Under the agreement, Fulcrum SearchServer will be integrated with Blue
Angel Technologies' Meta Data Server (MDS).  The resulting product, to be
marketed by Blue Angel Technologies, will enable users to search and retrieve
information from any number of distributed Fulcrum indexes using the
internationally accepted ANSI/NISO Z39.50 protocol standard.  The open
standard establishes a unified interface to both the query and the returned
search results, regardless of the databases searched.

    PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
    Pricing for the integrated solution from Blue Angel Technologies will be
established closer to availability, slated for August 1997.
