PITTSBURGH, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Pitt-Des Moines, Inc. (AMEX: PDM) today
announced that Victor G. Beghini, vice chairman of USX-Marathon Group and
president of Marathon Oil Company has joined PDM's board of directors,
increasing its size to 11 members.
Beghini, 62, heads the USX unit involved in oil and gas exploration,
production, refining, marketing and transportation and power generation. He
began his career with Marathon Oil more than 40 years ago. USX Corporation
acquired Marathon in 1982.
"With his extensive knowledge of the petroleum industry and his solid
business background, Vic Beghini makes an excellent addition to the Pitt-Des
Moines board," said Phillip O. Elbert, chairman of PDM. "We are fortunate to
have the benefit of Vic's experience and believe he can help us achieve our
aggressive growth plans."
Beghini also serves on the board of directors of Baker Hughes, Inc., the
American Petroleum Institute, the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts
of America and the Greater Houston partnership.
A native of Greensboro, Pa., Beghini graduated from Pennsylvania State
University in 1956 with a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering
and was named the university's distinguished alumnus in 1985. He attended the
management development program at Harvard University in 1974 and was awarded
honorary doctorate degrees from Marietta College and Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology.

reported 1996 revenues of $468 million from its operations in three business
segments: engineered construction, steel construction and steel service
