Microsoft Reseller To Include Japanese-Language Version Of Fulcrum
Product For Effective Access To Exchange Repositories; Fulcrum To
Provide Upgrade Option For Other Corporate Data Sources
TOKYO, JAPAN AND OTTAWA, CANADA, May 28 /PRNewswire/ - Fulcrum
Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: FULCF; TSE: FUL) today announced the details of a
distribution agreement signed in the first quarter between its Japanese
subsidiary, Nihon Fulcrum KK, and Softbank Corp. The agreement will entitle
Softbank to distribute the Fulcrum(R) Knowledge Network(TM) with Microsoft
Exchange Server in Japan. Softbank has rights to distribute a version of
Fulcrum's product that will provide enhanced searching functionality within
the Microsoft Exchange environment. Customers will be able to upgrade the
software through Nihon Fulcrum if they want to expand their solution to
embrace additional information sources - like file systems and Web servers -
or to add additional Knowledge Network functionality, like integrated agents.
``As the largest reseller for Microsoft BackOffice products in Japan,
Softbank is a very important business partner for Fulcrum,'' said Mike
Laginski, president and chief operating officer at Fulcrum. ``The agreement
leverages Fulcrum's market-leadership in Japan for information-retrieval
software, and provides an excellent opportunity for both companies to work
together to develop the Japanese market for knowledge management solutions.''
``Fulcrum has delivered an attractive product that provides advanced
functionality and increased effectiveness within Microsoft Exchange, with
excellent Japanese-language support,'' said Ken Miyauchi, executive vice
president of Softbank Corp. ``We expect Fulcrum's product will add to the
overall attractiveness of our offerings, and are confident that we are
entering into a mutually beneficial cooperative agreement.''
At a Softbank-sponsored press conference in Tokyo earlier this week,
unveiling this agreement to the Japanese press, Kazushi Sato, executive
director of Microsoft Co., Ltd., and Masayasu Bando, marketing manager of
Hewlett Packard were equally positive about the benefits of the Fulcrum
Knowledge Network.
``Fulcrum and Softbank are important partners for Microsoft, and we
believe that together they bring real value and benefits to Microsoft
customers in Japan,'' said Mr. Sato.
