IBM Veteran To Head New CORESTAFF Business Unit

Ken Johnsen named president of systems consulting group

HOUSTON, May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- CORESTAFF, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSTF), a leading
national provider of information technology and staffing services, today
announced that Kenneth R. Johnsen has joined the company as president of its
new systems integration and consulting business unit. The new unit will
expand CORESTAFF's presence in the technology consulting arena.
In addition to heading the new business unit, Johnsen will also serve as
an executive vice president of CORESTAFF, Inc. He joins the company from IBM,
where he was vice president of worldwide commercial operations for IBM's
personal computer business. Prior to that assignment, he was vice president
of business services for ISSC, the outsourcing subsidiary of IBM.
"Our goal is to leverage our recent acquisitions to rapidly build a
large competency in the systems integration and consulting market," said
Michael T. Willis, chairman and CEO of CORESTAFF, Inc. "Ken's depth of
understanding of the information technology industry makes him the ideal
choice to run this unit and lead our growth in this arena."
The new unit will focus on custom software development, program
maintenance, package software implementation and network integration. The
unit consists of two firms recently acquired by CORESTAFF: Metamor
Technologies, a Chicago-based systems integration company, and Business
Management Data, Inc. (BMD), based in Irvine, Cal. BMD provides a
comprehensive range of information technology services to a FORTUNE 500 client
base. BMD's India-based affiliate, Sriven Computer Solutions, also will be
part of the new business unit.
Systems integration and consulting is estimated to be a $26 billion market
for outsourced services. The new business unit will augment CORESTAFF's
current IT services business unit, COMSYS Information Technology Services,
which focuses on staff augmentation, project management services, and Year
2000 conversions.
Johnsen, a 22-year veteran of IBM, also served as general manager of IBM's
China/Hong Kong operations from 1991 to 1994. Under his leadership, the
division reached record revenue and profit levels.
Johnsen is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a
native of Chicago. He will relocate to Houston from Connecticut.
CORESTAFF, Inc., established in 1993, has quickly become one of the
nation's largest providers of information technology and staffing services
through its three operating units: the new systems integration and consulting
unit, COMSYS, and CORESTAFF Services. The Houston-based company, with pro
forma revenues in excess of $850 million, operates more than 150 branches
across the United States and has operations in the United Kingdom and India.
