RENO, Nev., Feb., 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Reno Air, Inc. [(Nasdaq: RENO;
PCX: RNO)] was recognized by InsideFlyer with the "Rising Star" Freddie Award
honoring Reno Air's new frequent flyer reward program. The "Rising Star" is
given out each year to the program or individuals that have or will have the
biggest impact on the industry.
Reno Air launched its frequent flyer program July 15, 1997 and since that
time signed new partners including long distance service, hotel, car rental,
flowers and gourmet foods making it easier to earn frequent flyer reward
miles. Reno Air is also a partner in the American AAdvantage program and
offers passengers both QQuick Miles and AAdvantage Miles.
"In a day and age when it is presumed that low cost carriers can't afford
or merely aren't interested in frequent flyer programs, Reno Air flies against
the current," said InsideFlyer Editor Randy Peterson. "Reno Air offers
something I don't think any other program has in recent memory, they allowed
and encouraged members to earn both QQuick Miles and AAdvantage miles on the
same flight. That decision deserves special recognition because it places
Reno Air so far above other low fare carriers."
"Winning this Freddie Award, the airline equivalent of winning the Oscar
or Grammy award, is a great honor for Reno Air," said Vice President Steve
Sarner. "This honor recognizes all of our outstanding Reno Air employees and
the team who carefully evaluated the best features of all frequent flyer
programs when designing QQuick Miles."
The "Freddies" were first introduced to members of frequent traveler
programs in 1988. The "Freddies" are now the oldest and most prestigious
awards solely voted on by frequent flyers themselves. This year, more than
44,000 frequent travel program members, the largest voter response in history,
voted on the overall merits of each frequent flyer program.
Reno Air continues to offer the best value in air travel with everyday low
fares plus full services like advance seat assignments, a spacious first class
cabin and convenient "EZtrip" ticketless travel. Reno Air also offers its
passengers $25 or $50 space available upgrades to first class on the day of
departure at the gate.
