PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Willamette Industries, Inc.
(NYSE: WLL) has announced its intention to promote Duane C. McDougall to the
position of president and chief operating officer. The promotion will be
formally approved by the company's board of directors at the next regularly
scheduled board meeting on April 21, 1998. The meeting will be held in
conjunction with Willamette's annual shareholders' meeting in Portland, Ore.
McDougall, 46, joined Willamette in 1979 and currently is executive vice
president of the company's Building Materials Group, a position he has held
since February 1997. His past positions with the company include vice
president/controller and vice president of Western Operations for Willamette's
Building Materials Group. A native Oregonian, he is a graduate of Oregon State
University.
Willamette Industries is a vertically integrated forest products company
with 103 manufacturing facilities and 1.8 million acres of timberland.
