PennDOT Traffic News for the Week of March 2, 1998

    PITTSBURGH, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation released the following traffic related news:

    I-79:  Bridgeville Exit 11

      Southbound I-79 Entrance from Bridgeville closed till July
      Northbound I-79 right lane closed through Bridgeville interchange
      March 2: Southbound right lane through Bridgeville Interchange of I-79
       will close through end of March.
      March 3: Southbound left lane through the Bridgeville Interchange will
       close till the end of March.

    This is required to build the temporary roadway to carry the traffic that
will be crossed over at the end of March while 2 miles of the southbound lanes
of I-79 between Bridgeville and the County Line are reconstructed.  During the
roadwork, traffic will be maintained by two Northbound and one Southbound lane
through the work area.  Work in the area is scheduled for completion in
November.

    Bridgeville Exit 11 and Southpointe Exit 10-A

    I-79 Between Bridgeville Exit 11 and Southpointe Exit 10-A

      March 2 at 9:00 a.m. until end of March: Northbound traffic maintained
       in a single lane.
      Removal of existing pavement markings to create cross-over.

    Chartiers Street Bridge: Bridgeville
    Monday, Match 2 at 9:00 a.m. until September, the Chartiers Street Bridge
located between Washington and Orchard Avenues will close for total
replacement.  The posted 3 mile detour is: Washington Avenue to Station Street
to Dewey Avenue to Bank Street to Chartiers Street.
    The contractor on this $1 million project to replace the single lane
bridge with a new concrete bridge is John Gulisek Construction Company.

    Lebanon Church Road: West Mifflin
    Monday, March 2 at 9:00 a.m. until the end of October, Lebanon Church
Road, between Camp Hollow Road and Lebanon Road will undergo a $2.2 million
pavement reconstruction.  Traffic will be maintained in a single lane in each
direction through the work zone.  Traffic at Route 885 Southbound (Lebanon
Road approaching Lebanon Church Road) will be maintained to a single left-turn
lane and a single straight or right-turn.
    John Gulisek Construction Company is the contractor on this project to
update the drainage system, widen the roadway, remove and replace concrete
median barrier, install new traffic signals and repave the roadway.

    Liberty Tunnel and Route 51: Pittsburgh
    Friday, February 27 at 6:00 p.m. until Saturday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m.
the right outbound lane of the Liberty Tunnel and the right northbound lane of
Route 51 will be closed while a new sanitary sewer line is installed.
    This operation is also scheduled same times, same traffic patterns next
weekend, March 6 and March 7.
    All schedules are subject to weather conditions.
