ROBERTS PHARMACEUTICAL CORPORATION ANNOUNCES THE ELECTION OF JOHN T. SPITZNAGEL TO ROBERTS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

    EATONTOWN, N.J., July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Roberts Pharmaceutical
Corporation (Nasdaq: RPCX) announced today the election of John T.
Spitznagel to Roberts Board of Directors.   Mr. Spitznagel joined the
Company earlier this year to fill the then newly created position of
Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
    Prior to joining Roberts, Mr. Spitznagel held the position of
President of Reed and Carnrick Pharmaceuticals, a division of Block Drug.
He also served as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales at Wyeth
Laboratories, a division of American Home Products, and as Product
Marketing Director at Roche.  He holds an MBA in marketing (Magna Cum
Laude) from Fairleigh-Dickinson Graduate School of Business
Administration, Rutherford, N.J.
